Flavors of Tradition
Crafted with Care
The story of sweets at O’brok begins with paprenjaci, traditional Zagreb cookies deeply rooted in our cultural and gastronomic heritage. These delicate honey biscuits, enriched with walnuts, almonds, and aromatic spices such as pepper, cinnamon, and cloves, offer an unusual yet perfectly balanced combination of flavors that have graced festive tables for centuries. At O’brok, we cherish an old recipe from 1829, thanks to which our paprenjaci preserve their original taste and aroma.
Paprenjaci were also mentioned in the works of August Šenoa, who turned them with his pen into a symbol of old Zagreb. He described them as cookies that evoke the smell of home and bring joy to everyday moments. It was precisely this simplicity and warmth that inspired us to create our modern sweets at O’brok.
Honoring the spirit of Zagreb tradition, our sweet offerings feature raspucanci, tender and fragrant cookies with a crisp crust and a soft, chewy center. Each raspucanac is baked with care, and their simplicity and rich flavor evoke memories of childhood and the aromas of home cooking.
A special treat comes in the form of our homemade strudels, a classic that never goes out of style. Whether it is a sour cherry strudel or one with apples and cinnamon, each is prepared from hand-rolled dough, just as our grandmothers used to make it. We also offer our homemade štrukli, prepared in the same traditional way with hand-made dough, fresh cheese, and rich flavors.
Our commitment to homemade flavors at O’brok doesn’t stop with sweets. Every morning, we bake our own fresh, homemade bread, fragrant, warm, and crusty.
In every sweet and every bite of bread, you can taste the love for homemade cooking, respect for tradition, and our desire to bring every guest that familiar sense of warmth that reminds you of home.
